SNES to GBC Donkey Kong Country has been ported to the Game Boy Advance, and Wii's Virtual Console. But both ports look pretty much if not exactly like the original. Except with some extras for the GBA version. But the most notable port must be the one to Game Boy Color. Donkey Kong Country was a 3D Rendered Graphics game for a 16-Bit System, and the Game Boy Color is pretty much a handheld NES, a 8-Bit system. So to say the least, it's pretty astonishing that Rare was able to make a port for it. Now it is for the Game Boy Color, so it obviously can't look as good as the SNES Version, but for a Game Boy Color game, it looks great, Rare did an amazing job porting it. Also, only one Kong could be shown at a time. So Diddy couldn't follow Donkey around, or vice versa. Rather if you did have a buddy available, you'd see a little DK barrel in the bottom left of the screen. Below are some side by side comparisons of screenshots from both versions.

![]() You couldn't see Donkey or Diddy on the Animal Buddies, rather you'd transform into the animal buddy, and just move as it.

![]() This was one where you'd actually travel to the left of the main island, and play different levels of the same type of minigame. Enemies and DK will pop up on screen, quickly move the D-Pad and hit the enemies, and avoid DK. |
